In this episode of The Dr. Mary Podcast, we’re diving into an inspiring story of faith, family, and resilience with my dear friend, Tracee Hudson. Tracee and her husband, Cory, serve as house parents at Big Oak Ranch, a remarkable Christian family ministry outside Birmingham, Alabama, dedicated to providing a stable, loving home for boys in need. Tracee shares her journey from homeschooling mom to a full-time foster care role, helping boys overcome the pain of abandonment, abuse, and neglect. Together, they’re building a lasting legacy of love, hope, and transformation at Big Oak Ranch. Let’s dive in!

  • Introducing Tracee Hudson

    • Tracee is a longtime friend and dedicated house parent at Big Oak Ranch alongside her husband, Cory. They’ve devoted their lives to caring for boys in crisis, creating a true family atmosphere.
  • What Big Oak Ranch Is All About

    • Big Oak is a Christian sanctuary for children who have faced abandonment, abuse, and neglect. Their mission is to break generational cycles through love, stability, and faith, showing these kids what a real home looks like.
  • Tracee’s Journey to Big Oak Ranch

    • Originally planning to move to Florida, Tracee and Cory felt a divine pull toward Big Oak, knowing this was where God needed them. From the moment they set foot on the ranch, they knew their calling was here.
  • Life at the Boys Ranch and Its Impact on Tracee’s Family

    • Although initially drawn to the Girls Ranch, Tracee and Cory felt led to serve at the Boys Ranch. This allowed their daughters to keep their special place as “Daddy’s girls.” The girls have shown incredible patience and compassion as they embrace this ministry, understanding that these boys have endured much hardship.
  • The Hardest Part of Foster Care: When Kids Leave

    • One of the most difficult challenges Tracee faces is when the boys decide to leave. Yet, she and Cory keep the door open, offering support and guidance to any boy who returns.
  • A Ministry of Faith and Family (a Christian family ministry)

    • Tracee’s family is living proof of God’s faithfulness. This journey is far from easy, but they trust in God’s purpose for them and are grateful for the privilege of bringing love and stability to young lives who desperately need it.
