Welcome to the Dr. Mary Podcast!

As a pediatrician, wife, mother, and empowerment advocate, I wanted a place to discuss mental and physical health, ADHD, autism, and so much more.

Today, I want to share something very close to my heart: why I started this podcast and why I’m so passionate about it.

Facing Challenges & Understanding the Journey

Growing up, I saw many families in the Black community struggling when a loved one was diagnosed with ADHD or autism. There was a lot of misunderstanding and stigma, which made things even harder. In my own family, we faced these challenges, and it was tough. Seeing people I care about feeling isolated and misunderstood was painful.

When my family faced an ADHD diagnosis, it felt like we were alone. There weren’t many resources or support systems that truly understood our experiences as a Black family. This made me realize how important it is to have someone who can relate to and advocate for our specific needs and challenges.

Advocacy and Growth

My mission is to help families identify challenges, overcome obstacles, grow together, and advocate for their loved ones. By empowering ourselves with knowledge and support, we can navigate this journey more effectively. Each episode of my podcast is designed to offer tools and strategies to make this possible.

Advocacy is at the heart of everything I do. I want to ensure that every family has the resources they need to support their loved ones. This means breaking down barriers, challenging misconceptions, and fostering an environment of understanding and acceptance. It’s about growing together as a community and lifting each other up.

The Dr. Mary Podcast

THIS all is why I started The Dr. Mary Podcast.

I wanted to create a space where we can openly discuss these issues, share our stories, and support each other. Through my podcast, I hope to provide valuable insights, practical advice, and a sense of community.

It’s a platform where we can learn, grow, and rise above the stigmas and biases that often come with these diagnoses.
